Dr. Emery Bland, DMD
Emery is a homegrown boy of the Sunshine Coast. He completed a bachelor of Political Science at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2004. He then pursued his studies in dentistry at UBC and graduated in 2010. Emery has
since been practicing dentistry in Gibsons with his father Donald, DMD, and mother Mary, RDH, BDSc. Emery engages in all aspects of dentistry including root canals, implants, major and minor restorative care, oral cancer screening, aesthetic dentistry while continuing to educate himself at courses in Canada and the United States. Emery also has a passion for volunteer dental work in his local communities and abroad. Emery has travelled to Mexico, Cambodia, and twice to Brazil to provide dental care for those less fortunate. He has also provided care at the Native Health Center on the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. Emery will p
rovide outreach in the community to care facilities such as Christianson Village to consult with staff and see residents. Emery believes dental care should be provided with skill, compassion, and integrity. In his spare time, Emery enjoys running, skiing, golf, squash and spending time with family and friends. Donald Bland, DMD
Don has been practicing dentistry on the Sunshine Coast for 42 years. Over the years, Don has gained an immense amount of experience in all aspects of dentistry. Currently, he is providing implant procedures to replace missing teeth in addition to the other general dentistry procedures including root canals, aesthetic restorations, crowns and preventive services. He is known for his out of office passions including gardening, orchid cultivation, bird watching, natural history, butterflies and travel. He is on board to provide care when Emery is away from the office.
Mary Findlay, RDH BDSc
Mary is the daughter of a dentist and grew up in East Vancouver and Burnaby.
Mary graduated from UBC in 1971 with a diploma in dental hygiene and in 1998 received a BDSc from UBC after two years of additional study in dental hygiene. Mary's passion is disease prevention. Encouraging good oral health habits from birth through all ages and stages involves positive communication and support. Head and neck screening for changes is part of regular oral hygiene visits with the dental hygienist. Mary also works part time in community health for Vancouver Coastal Health visiting day cares, pre schools, Strong Start, elementary schools, and educating and supporting oral care for adults.
Genelle Peloquin, RDH
Genelle was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. She completed her bachelor in human kinetics at UBC and her dental hygiene diploma at Camosun College on Vancouver Island. Genelle is a very skilled, educated, and caring dental hygienist who pays attention to every individual patients needs. Out of the office, you will see Genelle in the gym, hitting the pavement in her running shoes, or scaling the trails of the Soames Hill. Genelle is looking forward to meeting everyone soon.
